This is an intermediate level course on Old Church Slavonic as a source language. It is intended for graduate students who have worked past the beginner level. The course assumes a basic knowledge of OCS phonetics and morphology. We will begin with an intensive review of grammar and vocabulary, followed by a systematic presentation of syntax. During our classes, we will read together short excerpts of increasing complexity focusing on the accurate understanding of the text. Towards the end of the term we will be attempting mostly unadulterated OCS, as the explicit goal of the course is to prepare the students to read moderately complex OCS works more or less independently.
