Hello, everyone,
As discussion facilitator, I prepare some questions for the session.
1. To what extent was the International Association of Academies able to overcome the confines of national academies of sciences? Did membership in the international institution reinforce national scientific traditions?
2. Was the International Association of Academies distinctly different from the Republic of Letters? How did formalization of elite scholars’ networks change international cooperation?
3. What obstacles may the design of a national academy of science (such as the U.S. National Academy of Sciences) present for the international cooperation?
4. How did the International Association of Academies favor certain scientific traditions over the others?
Best,
Dmitrii
