TE Study guide

This course explores the dynamic relationship between economic policymakers, the private sector, and broader stakeholders engaged with economic policy worldwide. Against a backdrop of accelerating geopolitical fragmentation, technological disruption, and the retreat from liberal multilateralism, the course examines the historical evolution of the government–business relationship and the public policy contexts that shape it.

New for Fall 2026, the course incorporates emerging themes including: geoeconomic competition and deglobalization, the regulation of artificial intelligence and digital platforms, and the implications of the US–China decoupling for multinational strategy. These themes are woven into the existing architecture of corporate political activity, nonmarket strategy, and international trade and investment policy.
