Employing a long-term and integrative perspective, this course asks how gendered work and gendered labor activism have shaped the lives of working people around the world. It examines how labor activists have negotiated differences among working people and challenged exploitative labor relations, and explores diverse types of labor relations and the connections between them at the micro and macro levels. Working closely with original visual and textual material, we discuss entangled inequalities in the world of work, as well as the complex agendas and inventive repertoires of labor activism, past and present.
