Welcome to the spring term thesis workshop. Our aim in each session will be to provide feedback for your work in progress. Students presenting in a given session will pre-circulate a research chapter at least 48 hours before the session. We are generally working on the honor system, but the draft chapter submitted for the spring workshop should be different from any chapter used in the winter workshop. (Please do not submit an introductory chapter without prior permission from the instructor.)
At any given session all participants will be expected to provide some form of constructive feedback, ranging from simple requests for clarification to more substantive interventions. As an accountability measure, however, each student will serve one time as the formal discussant for the chapter of a peer, and will initiate that day's discussion.
You will find the schedule for presentations in the sections below, including deadlines for pre-circulating chapter drafts. I have spread out the sessions a bit to give breathing space to read your colleagues' drafts without getting sidetracked from your own work. I have assigned students at random to the four sessions.
