The overall aim of the course is to develop a foundational understanding of spatially referenced analysis and explore the potential of using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in environmental and public policy assessment and management. Building upon the theoretical knowledge and practical skills acquired in the fall semester (Envsci’s GST and UWC IGDV), this course will focus on two main areas: 1) introduction to spatial analysis using ArcGIS software (desktop and ArcGISPro), and 2) further development of geospatial mapping skills using more sophisticated professional GIS package. Students will engage in more detailed discussions on geospatial data visualization and quantitative analysis of geospatial phenomena in environmental and public policy domains.
